Pilot Stories – Reconnecting After 10 Years

Recent Note from Retired AFNE Volunteer Pilot, John

10 years or so ago, I took a 12 year old Haitian amputee on a few Angel Flights to the Shriners Prosthetic Hospital in Springfield. A growing young lady needs constant readjustment for her prosthetic. Unfortunately, she lost both her mother and her leg in an earthquake. I flew her and her older sister many times to and from Springfield, MA. They were staying with an aunt on Cape Cod.

Fast forward to today. I had blood drawn by a Haitian and we prattled briefly in (bad) French. She turned out to be the aunt, and here is a picture of that skinny 12 year, now studying engineering in New Mexico.

Cheers,
John
