Thankful Thursday ~ Oliver’s Healthcare Journey from Puerto Rico to NY
A diagnosis of childhood cancer is life-altering for not only the child but also the family. When Oliver was diagnosed with T-ALL, a type of blood cancer characterized by the uncontrolled growth of immature T lymphocytes (white blood cells) in the bone marrow,
his family immediately started treatment. Thankfully he is now in the follow-up phase requiring him to travel from Puerto Rico to Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York Monthly. Distance should never be a barrier for patients to access treatment and especially follow-up care – Angel Flight NE is there to help Oliver and his family with direct flights made possible by our amazing aviation partner, JetBlue, and a grant from the Alexion Charitable Foundation.
His mother Lillian shared:
“Thank you so much for all the support from Angel Flight NE. We truly appreciate the care and dedication that you and the entire team put into making these trips possible for families like ours.”
We are truly blessed to be able to support patients, especially those with rare and ultra-rare conditions like Oliver!
