We are honored to share the inspiring story of Bonnie from Burlington, VT  — a lovely lady whose life has been profoundly impacted since she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer for 16 years ago.

For individuals like Bonnie who are battling challenging diagnosis or any other medical condition, it can be  overwhelming, but thanks to our generous volunteer pilots like Jim L., we were able to fly Bonnie with her husband from Burlington, VT to Boston, MA so she can receive care and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – Chestnut Hill.

Bonnie learned about Angel Flight NE’s services from a social worker at University of Vermont Medical Center. Since her first call in July of 2024, we have coordinated 8 flights of healing and hope for her so she can receive the care, treatment support she needs for the best possible outcome.

She recently shared with our mission flight coordination team what AFNE means to her:
“I have been living with metastatic breast cancer for almost 16 years. My local medical center doesn’t have the depth and breadth of experience, as well as the availability of appointments, to care for “outliers” like me. My husband Steve would otherwise have to take off from work, drive us 10-hours round-trip, and we would have to stay overnight.  Angel Flight NE has made it possible to get to and from Dana Farber Cancer Institute, receive top notch care, and be home in a day. The pilots, drivers, and mission coordinators are always so caring and accommodating. We are so grateful for their valuable services.”
