- Recipient of National Child Labor Committee's 1999 Special Lewis Hine Award. THE NCLC is a non-profit organization seeking "To promote the rights, dignity and well-being of children as they relate to work, working and education." The Lewis Hine Awards honor ten individuals for their unheralded volunteer or professional work that betters the lives of America’s youth. The awards are the result of hundreds of nominations from the country’s governors, mayors, CEO’s and nonprofit leaders.
- Recipient of "The Hero Among Us" awarded by the Boston Celtics and Boston Globe. "Heroes Among Us" is a program designed to honor and recognize members of society that stand tall in their commitment to community. The Celtics recognize an individual who has made a special contribution -- a "Hero Among Us" -- at every home game.
