Volunteering Pilots & Ground Crew

Supporting Patients in the Air and on the Ground

Getting involved with Angel Flight NE is a very rewarding experience. Whether you are a pilot, earth angel / ground crew member, help at events or hold an event to benefit our mission, you are making a meaningful and direct impact in the lives of our patients and their families. We are always looking for volunteers to support our mission. Whether you donate a few hours, an afternoon, a couple days a year or whatever you can do, it is greatly appreciated and will bring hope and joy to the thousands of patients we assist annually.

Not only do we have our “Earth Angels” program, but we are always looking for volunteers to assist us with support at our office in North Andover; assist us with community outreach in communities throughout the Northeast and also volunteers at our various events we have throughout the year.

Whether you donate a few hours, an afternoon, a couple days a year or whatever you can do, we greatly appreciate it.

Volunteer Opportunities for Pilots and Ground Crew

Volunteering

As a small non profit providing a vital service to patients and families in need, we rely on the support of volunteers to help complete our mission. Volunteering comes in many forms.

We are always looking for individuals and groups to assist us by raising funds and awareness for our mission; spreading the word about our services to civic and support organizations; speaking with social workers and medical teams to educate them on our free air transportation services and much more.

We also rely on volunteers at our various events that take place throughout the year – whether it is assisting with registration at an event; gathering auction items in advance of an event; or even hanging posters on community boards for events or about our services– every bit helps.

We are very grateful with any and all assistance from those who support our mission. Whether it is an hour a week or maybe an evening or afternoon supporting an event, your support means the world to us and together we can transform our patients and their families lives. Volunteering opportunities are endless when it comes to helping those in need.

Pilots

Angel Flight NE’s mission is successful because of the amazing volunteers we have. We have more than 450+ volunteer pilots who donate their time, planes, fuel and most of all, their compassion to support those in need. Pilots love to fly and to help others while doing what they love is very rewarding for the pilots and a blessing for our patients. Learn More.

Ground Crew / Earth Angels

Our ground crew / earth angels play a very instrumental role for the patients who utilize Angel Flight NE’s services. Not only do these amazing volunteers donate their time, vehicles, and fuel, but they provide compassion to the patients after receiving treatment – often times they are the first person a patient sees after treatment or diagnosis.  These volunteers are vital to our missions being completed.

Volunteers & Ground Crew
Our Team on the Ground

There are plenty of ways to volunteer for Angel Flight NE without being a pilot. The Ground Crew are special volunteers who provide ground transportation for our patients by driving them to and from hospitals and airports.

The procedure is very simple and we usually have a couple days’ notice. When a trip is available one of our mission coordinators will contact you with the pick-up request and will provide you the Patient’s Name, Pick-up Location and Time, Patient’s Cell # if they have one, Number of People (if it’s more than one), Destination, Pilot’s Name, Aircraft’s Tail # (or flight #) and Airport /Location where you’ll be meeting. They will also provide any additional information you may need to know, like one is a child with a car seat or the patient has limited mobility and travels with a collapsible wheelchair or walker.

Recently, our long-term Ground Crew Rod said, “People ask why I volunteer for Angel Flight NE. The big reason is the smiles I get.”
